July 10th, Dr. Dusti Prentice Vet Check
Cowboy still is having a cough, however the congestion is not as bad and the snotty nose is now gone. His gums are still not a good color, so we are hoping that will get better with more time and another dose of antibiotics to knock that infection out of him once and for all.
Lightening has no sign of cough or snotty nose, but his coordination in the hind end still shows signs of impairment. Although he loves to run, buck and play the manner in which he is placing his right hend leg is of some concern. His swollen knee whee the puncture was is now looking normal, so it will no longer have to be wrapped to keep the pressure on. The right knee still has a sore on it from when he could not get up easily but that is healing very nicely. Most of his other sores are just about gone too.
A CA test is being done for Lightening and those results will be posted when they come back.
Both boys are still gaining weight well but the ulcers are showing an affect on them as they are eating dirt and the bark off of the Mesquite trees in the pen. Even though we have plenty of toys in their pen and free feed food, eating the dirt and bark is something that we cannot seem to stop at this time. They have been getting ulcer meds and it is our hope that the habit of dirt eating, etc. will soon taper off.
Thank you Ann Gallus for holding the boys during Dr. Dusti's visit and for taking pictures at the same time.
